This Udemy course by Hoang Quy La is a code-first introduction to quantum computing built around Python. La is an electrical engineer (first class honours, RMIT University) who teaches a range of engineering and AI courses on Udemy. The course takes learners from basic quantum computing concepts through to implementing real quantum algorithms in code.

The curriculum covers qubits, quantum gates, and quantum circuit design using both Cirq and Qiskit. On the algorithms side it works through the Deutsch-Jozsa algorithm, Grover’s search with quantum oracles and amplitude amplification, the quantum Fourier transform, and quantum phase estimation, before moving on to variational quantum circuits for hybrid quantum-classical machine learning and an introduction to quantum error correction.

With about 7.5 hours of video, the course is organised into four main sections: an introduction, basic quantum computing concepts and implementation, intermediate quantum computing, and advanced quantum computing. It is a relatively new course with a small review base so far (rated around 4.1 from 11 reviews at the time of writing), so expect a less polished experience than long-established alternatives.

Note: this is a different course from Atil Samancioglu’s “The Complete Quantum Computing Course” on Udemy, which has a similar name but a different instructor and curriculum.

Who is this for?

Python programmers, computer science and physics students, and machine learning practitioners who want a practical, code-first introduction to quantum computing frameworks. It suits people who already program and want to apply those skills to quantum circuits and algorithms.

Prerequisites

Basic Python programming is the most useful background. Udemy lists the course at intermediate level, reflecting the programming focus, but the quantum concepts are developed from the ground up.
